Custom Screening Questions let you gather key details right from the application form! Whether it’s experience, skills, or work preferences, these questions help you identify top talent faster.
Who Has Access to Screening Questions?
To access Screening Questions, you’ll need to be an Admin or Mega Admin—so if that’s not you, please reach out to your administrator for assistance.
Finding Your Screening Questions
Click on the settings gear ⚙️ in the bottom left corner.
Select Recruitment Settings from the menu.
Navigate to the Questions section using the list on the left.
Bonus! We’ve already added some default questions to give you a head start! Feel free to edit it or create brand-new ones to match your application process.
Creating a New Screening Question
Want to add a new question? Easy!
Click the “+ Add Question” button in the upper right corner.
A window will open—fill in your question, response type, and visibility settings.
Hit Save, and you're all set! ✅
Editing an Existing Screening Question
Need to make a quick edit? No problem!
Click the pencil & paper ✎ icon next to the question title.
The editing window will open—make your changes.
Save your updates, and you're good to go!
Creating Question Sets
If you’re asking the same questions across multiple roles or departments, Question Sets can make your life easier. They’re reusable collections of custom questions that help keep things consistent—and save you from copying and pasting the same thing over and over.
Getting started is easy! Just hit "+ Add Question Set" in the top right. First, you’ll name your set—this is just for you and your team, so pick something that makes sense for quick reference.
Next, you’ll add a title and (optional) subtitle. These are what candidates will see when they’re filling out the application, so make them clear and relevant.
Use the dropdown to pull in any existing custom questions you want to include. You can also decide if each question should be required or optional for candidates to answer.
Your Question Set is ready to go and can be easily added to applications whenever you need it.
Different Types of Questions
Not all answers are created equal! Customize the Response Type based on the information you need. 🧐
Short Text Response – Perfect for quick, one-sentence answers.
Paragraph Text Response – Great for detailed responses when you need more insight.
Yes or No – Keep it simple with a straightforward yes or no.
Drop-Down List – Provide pre-set options for candidates to choose one answer.
Multiple Choice – Allow candidates to select more than one response.
Number – Ideal for questions like salary expectations or years of experience.
File Upload – Let candidates upload portfolios, certifications, or other important documents.
Response Visibility: Who Sees What?
Not every answer should be visible to everyone on the hiring team (think salary expectations 💰). You can adjust Response Visibility to control who sees the candidate’s responses:
Everyone on the hiring team – All members can see the answers.
Hiring Managers & Above – Limits access to managers and admins only.
